Other ways to donate

Give as You Earn

You can donate to the UK Stem Cell Foundation every payday through payroll giving or Give as You Earn (GAYE). This is a simple, tax free and efficient way to make regular donations to the Foundation.

Each time you get paid, a donation is deducted by your Payroll department before tax is calculated. This means that a £10 donation to the UK Stem Cell Foundation only costs you £7.80 because the taxman pays the remainder.

If you pay a higher rate of tax then your commitment is even less.

If you would like to donate to the UK Stem Cell Foundation by Giving as You Earn please contact your internal payroll department. If your payroll department does not support Give as You Earn or you have any questions about payroll giving please contact the UK Stem Cell Foundation on 020 7670 5370 or email us at info@ukscf.org . We can help to set up a payroll giving scheme within your workplace quickly and effectively.

Donating Shares and Legacy Donations

A donation of shares is also a particularly tax effective way of giving. The total value of the gift can be offset against ones annual income tax or corporation tax and there is no capital gains tax liability.

Legacy donations also attract significant tax reductions if your estate is subject to inheritance tax. Leaving a gift to the UK Stem Cell Foundation in your will can be organised, often by setting up a simple Trust, so that surviving dependants have the benefit of the income from the bequest, which only reverts to the charity after their death.

If you are contemplating one of these last two methods of donating it is advisable to discuss this with your solicitor or financial advisor as appropriate.
